Last time was just a blip - but the Chinese infection curve is showing the shape that, in other countries, has heralded the arrival of Omicron.

Rising here too (252.937). Maybe carnaval, holidays or the war. Also far less measures.

Unduly pessimistic IMO: to survive, the virus is having to evolve into less harmful forms, and there's a lot of seropositivity around now, meaning that the virus has less time in humans to find mutations that drive "gain of function".

Those masses of infected people breed out new mutants.
The infected people are the laboratory the virus create new virus creations.
