Covid 19 Pandemie

Just occurred to me that with Omicron spreading so fast in China right now (link), there's a serious risk of a new "helpful" (from the virus's point of view) mutation.

That will be the problem. The virus gets space for new mutations. If one of them is aggressive and deadly we are doomed.

New virus: monkeypox. Congratulations. At least it is visible. Or is that an disadvantage for how do you get food when ill and everybody sees you are ill.

O wait it does not spread by air. So should not be a problem,.

Although I remember once I got shingles and I don'' t know where it came from. That disease was really no fun. O wait I read shingles could be spread by air. So always mind your resistance.

Strange that covid figures in Germany are much higher than in the Netherlands. Is Netherlands cheating with the figures?

Looking around the world, the countries that were the most disciplined about controlling the spread of it are the only ones who still have it!

I don't know. Maybe if you are obsessed by a goal you certainly are going to fail. Lately there is a small barking dog who amplfies every single noise by barking on high tones. I am currently obssesed to find out whose dog it is. So maybe I certainly am going to fail when I search that way. Never had such annoying wake up calls. Maybe dentist can beat the noise of the dog.

I don't know. Second order Corona effects.  Bicycle repairman did not want to repair my bike for there were too many bikes he had to fix. Normally there were more repairmen. But now only one. Or maybe my memory is bad. I have two breaks. One is broken. Maybe one is enough I don't know.

Coaster brake still works. Used to be enough. But don't know nowadays. Repairman gives me lowest priority so probably safe ?

Maybe I should use my bike as less as possible. For maybe shortage of repairman. Other repairshops were terrible expensive in the past I remember.

I know previous time when there was a half lock down I had no problem getting my bike repaired.

I think I like half lock downs.

3,931,920 people recovered.

2 days ago there were only 3,917,580 cases so it seems people get recovered in one or 2 days from Covid there.

No. Covid is gone from the Netherlands. You're free to go out.

It is not really gone, it is just endemic now. The number of cases is not dropping, maybe Henk is right that there is a slight rise but probably just fluctuating; I find it useful now that you don't have to do a GGD check if you have Corona symptoms, so no reliable data that way, to look at the sewagewater virusmaterial measurements, updated every Tuesday. Also helpful in The Netherlands although it could certainly use more members; De Grote Griep en Corona meting where in theory you can see if there is a Flu or Corona outbreak, that is if people are really able to tell them apart, for that they will have to do hometesting I think. This used to be just for the Flu but it stopped a few years ago. Value for The Netherlands, 5 days ago, 15th of June is 1083 particles averaged over all measurements in sewagewater. That is roughly comparable to November last year start of the winter wave. It seems that Summer respite is going to be over soon. I don't think our government is going to act on this value, they don't have real planning ready at this moment anyway but if it continues upwards with this speed we will be hitting 2000 in no time... But government very busy already with the war, the gas shortages because only 40% of Russian gas coming from Nordstream 1 to Germany but that also is hitting us in the longer run, refugee crisis that nobody wanted to do something about in terms of social housing etc. but above all angry farmers because of Nitrogen pollution problems here. (Because of this, a cabinet crisis is not at all unthinkable because of the coalition only D66 members are 100% backing the Nitrogen plans at their congress this weekend. All of this, except the new variants of coronavirus perhaps, was to be expected since 24 February perhaps. Not wanting to go into blame game for that, here. National or international solutions? None of them easy or even anywhere in sight. We can praise ourselves lucky that in our little country we don't have a heatwave or enormous droughts or flooding. In that way we are very lucky here. Sorry for gloomy picture of this summer, I just wanted to say we haven't seen nothing yet compared to Ukraine, or things like India flooding and heatwaves, Surinam flooding too. Nothing. But we can't stay out of it. 

It looks to me as though the best immunity to Covid comes with real infections: those countries that have had the most real infections seem to be the ones that are doing the best right now. The policy of trying to keep Covid out at all costs is beginning to look foolish.
