That is a good movie and it’s funny to listen to you explaining that you can see if the program is good. It’s an Apple Hardware ?! Do you remember the Rebell you used ? Mm4 prototype on Apple (6502??) ?!
Kasparov says Helmut Pfleger that Chess computers make no Plan. And THATS true until today, isn’t it.
Let’s hope this will one day change.
The blind simultan against clock and 10 players is also very impressive, isn’t it ?
Helmut Pfleger is really a big one. He did so much for chess in Germany and in the TV World Here. He still is doing many chess in newspapers.
We need to bring chess back into TV. It helps a lot to make chess a mass game.

Also, the retro chess computers weren't the only fine old technology on display - here's a mechanical chess clock being wound up - link!
I'm guessing that Garry beat all his opponents - computer and domesticated ape alike!

The Queen's Gambit did this: all of a sudden, my colleagues at work all had Chess.com accounts, and wanted to play against me! Also caused the sale of chess products to rise so dramatically that it overwhelmed the Chess USA server in the run up to Christmas, and they took down the TalkChess forums to provide more servers for their customers!

Almost all chess companies have sold out boards and pieces, This is amazing isn’t it ? They have no boards and no pieces to buy. Sold out.
Chess is the new toilette paper.

We should make something out of this boom . Last time this happened was 1972 when Bobby pushed the sales.

The IIe was a derivative of the Apple II. From link:
* 6502 running at 1 MHz * 4 KB RAM * Cassette recorder for storing programs and data. I have (not at all!) fond memories of struggling to get programs to load from cassette * the display was your TV * the price was $1298 ($5,600 today - link)
However, at the time (as we are doing now), the comparison direction would have been backwards: it was a better computer than ones you could have bought before (but, as always with Apple, the price was somewhat too high for the specification of computer you were getting even then).
In the Spracklens' oral history video, they said that their Sargon chess program was the only non-Apple software available for the very first model of Apple Mac.
