Posts : Join date : Ed, did you think about implementing a little NN in Pro Deo? Amanj did it with less than 100M fens, Jay Honnold used 250M fens, and these small nets added more than 100 Elos to their engines. Benjamin, Pro Deo with a NN -- or several few nets like in SlowChess, a combination of nets and HCE could be a challenge and the next step.

I have tried with the help of another programmer and the NPS dropped with a factor of 10.

I do not care about the raw strength, since I am analysing most of the time, or even playing, but I would very interested by the evaluation. My guess is that since Pro Deo has a slower search and his eval was optimised for lower depths, with more knowledge that it is usual today, the net should be quite strong.
I also feel that such an engine could look more like a real human.

Posts : Join date : Location : The NNUE implementation started in its simplest way, only for the 3-6 man positions. It did pretty well but as already said the NPS dropped with a factor of ~10. Compiler doesn't support the needed CPU extensions for modern computers. And so it ended.
