The fact that homes have no wire telephones anymore is a backstep. In older times the telephone lines had voltage in the wire. Even when the house had no electricity, the wire transported it. So you could telephone.
Today we have mobile phones and most home telephones run via router. But router needs electricity and working Internet connection.
If for some reason there is no electricity, you have no internet and therefore home telephones do not work, no mobile phones can log in the network because the relais stations have no electricity too.
So its a catastrophe but you cannot call anybody and nobody can call you.

Virus, Heat, Water. What's next. Only part of Netherlands lays above sea-level. So its normal people getting drowned. Small part of my ancestry drowned. Beulake: Drowned village/area in the Netherlands. Touristic area nowadays.
Now you also see that politicians from SPD and CDU, those parties on power for many years, have to admit that the crisis is obviously a result of the climate change. And that they had not done enough against this climate change.
Lets hope that the people in Germany will take consequences out of this disaster and vote for the green party in Germany, the only party that talks for 30 years and more that this climate change will end into a complete disaster if we do not prepare for it.
The SPD / CDU / AFD / FDP have no solutions to this climate change. No solutions and no will to change.
They are so much part of the problem that you cannot trust in them. They are part of the problem.
These parties were mainly corrupt and financed by the companies in charge for all the mess. Capitalistic companies producing the waste of resources and CO2 that leads to the disaster.
