Progress Update

Created a new net, this time not from Benjamin but from Rebel 14.1 data.

R14.2 [beta] vs R14.1
Games : 5000
TC : 40/40
Result : 58.5%
Elo : +60

Last step, need to tune the net finding the best setting, this might or might not give some extra elo.

Everything is possible, but it would mean I would have to provide the source code with it because of the GPL and I don't like to do that precise job more than once.

But I think you may expect a new release this week because I am not exactly in the mood for additional search improvements.

Chris made an option in the learner for the old R14 format that is compatible with Marvin. After the R14.2 release I will such a net. Then you have MultiPV and MP.

Well, nearly, it hasn’t been tested yet. Someone will need to see if it can train a 128 net (I think it can, but didn’t test it) and the inference engine needs to accommodate it. That’s not tested either.

In self-play with the default tuner setting 14.2 gave 70 elo but against a set of CCRL 3200 rated engines only 30 elo which is too low for a release. And so I am busy to find the right value, it's called tuning and it's a time consuming process but I will be there.

4.2 as far as I understand it

At CCRL it is called Toga II 4.0, Dietrich Kappe called his creation Toga III, hence Toga IV, maybe Toga IV 1.0 is better.

Surprisingly TOGA IV is not stronger than Rebel 14.1 despite adding a REBEL search improvement. It's not much, 10-15 elo less but fully compensated by MP support.
