Top tip: watch the video at 1.5x speed.
I think both his explanations for cave paintings are wrong (pass the time / record history). The paintings would have been there for the same reason we have art today:
* status * decoration
He makes a good case that ancient humans went to the caves to shelter from a severe period of global cooling.

Especially since we now have Evidence for this global catastrophe. You remember https://youtu.be/Eltcdfvo-Vg The scientists have found out that a comet crashed on earth and as a result we had severe natural catastrophes.
You have to remember that in the same turkey where we found the temples , there is a whole city UNDER EARTH, not only a few caves. In this under earth city 40.000 people or more could have been survived when outside the world fought the comet impact.

On the subject of ancient humans, we just got 30,000 years older!
Some human remains that were previously thought to be 200,000 years old have now been shown to be at least 230,000 years old!
When you think about how much has happened in the last 500 years (Brexit #1, the English Reformation, leading to the industrial revolution and, in general, massive advancement in how we live), then ponder that we've been around for 460 such time periods!
