Here's a fun hypothetical for you guys...
If you could get a team of programmers, your dream team let's say, to work together and make your dream engine/s (strong, stylish, whatever!) - who would these guys be?
Choose maybe 6 favs.
For me this team would consist of Chris W, Ed S, Pawel K, Johan de Koning, Frans Mosrch and Andrew Grant.
The first 5 are imo, legends in creating strong engines with an emphasis on style, while Andrew is some type of prodigy in chess programming.
I think such a team would make AMMAAZING chess engines (assuming they could get along).
I'm sure I missed some. Who would you choose as your dream team?
Edit: Oh! I'd throw Lance Perkins in somewhere too!

Most programmers are no team players. You forget that despite stockfish the sources are top secret. They share ideas but not code. I doubt this will work.

If..., this is a big 'IF'. It would be Chris W, Ed S, Pawel K, Johan de Koning, Stefan Meyer-Kahlen, and someone with great knowledge of neural networks.

To make such a cooperation successfully there need to be one captain on the ship, I don't see that happen
A better approach would be that programmers share their best ideas. In such a renowned group as listed above this must be worth some elo if they start to share. It's what Christophe Theron (Chess Tiger) and I did a couple of years, it paid off.

I think what would work best would be an agile process with them each working on separate tasks, but reviewing each other's work.
I know this is a computer chess forum, and I don't want to hijack the thread, but it made me think: how about six brilliant minds working on a phone app for world peace?

Some people don't know what "hypothetical" means.
@ Ted,good idea! We need some NN specialist. I think I'll swap out Andrew Grant for Deitrich Kappe!
(sorry Andy )

I didn't "forget" anything. There's a reason I used the word "hypothetical".
I'm aware of the unique personalities and temperaments of chess programmers.

Hi there,
1. John Stanback 2. Fabien LETOUZEY 3. Tord Romstad 4. Rudolf Huber 5. Andrew Grant 6. Lucas Braesch 7. James Robertson ... with 15 years a program stronger as Crafty, full of new ideas (Insomniac).
Can build the dream team! Programmers work on the learn GnuChess sources (Shredder based on GnuChess). Fabien, Tord and Andrew with all the great ideas. Rudolf is the ideal for many German programmers (Stefan Meyer-Kahlen for an example, for Uli Türke, for Roland Pfister and many others).
Programmers with a lot of knowledge! An ideal for French programmers are the programmer from ChessWizard. And after all I know Amir Ban have a lot of knowledge in programmings. From the Dutch programmers I think Bart Westrate in TOP-Form!
