I remember when I got access from the host hgm and I tried to fix the problem. I found a virus. I removed it. Maybe there are more.

No problem with Firefox, other than the delay for verification.

Many seem just a bit frustrated with the neverending captchas in Talkchess, I fear people will stay away if it continues, although some seem to have no trouble, but they are apparently not missing diagrams at all using https? Can't we fire some emails in the direction of Quentin again Ed, Chris? It is out of the Christmas season so perhaps he has some time now to look if this is really necessary?

Lets shut the shit down.
Do we really need to know how the 1367th stockfish clone scores against the 518th Stockfish clone ?

It doesn't make any sense to contact Quentin again. I don't understand why he wants to keep the forum, but he does.
Best way is to pick a suitable running computer chess forum and start a campaign at Talkchess to move.

How many times I need to point out. He is not the boss and he does what he is told. The boss is whoever bought it back whenever. IMO one of those Hulls. They're not going to lose the forum because it brings them traffic and traffic brings sales.

We are still after so many years in the sam/matthew Hull gate concerning Talkchess. They stole talkchess and as it seems will never let it out of their unfriendly takeover.

THIS was a good posting.
Post by Rebel » Sat May 20, 2023 5:30 pm A bit of history for a good understanding. The forum was founded by a group of people called the founding-fathers in November 1997. Current active members are Chris, Thorsten and me. We made an agreement with ICD Corp. they would supply the forum software and maintain it as only obligation and no further rights. The forum, its ruling and its contents are the sole property of the forum members protected and maintained by elected members called moderators. ICD profited massively from the deal, I know the REBEL numbers they ordered during the years. So far so good, a win-win situation. During the years the rights of the forum members have been trampled, it goes too far to go into detail but the current main beef is that the current owner (Quentin) is unwilling to hand over the domain name but most importantly he is unwilling to handover the data. This while no single byte written by members is his. For a solution Quentin need to be contacted again, a previous try by HGM and me almost succeeded (HGM did a lot of work setting up a server) till Quentin started to question the rights of the data hinting for a money deal. He has no rights. What IMO needs to happen is : 1. New elected moderators, robust people able to make a deal with Quentin. 2. New server, new modern forum software, all data transferred. 3. Discussion (or election) who becomes the new owner (or owners) of the new forum. 4. The new moderators make an agreement with the new owner(s). 90% of coding is debugging, the other 10% is writing bugs. wrote:

IMO we still are under the hijacking situation of our own computer chess forum Talkchess. They do control our 1997 founded forum very good and with HGM „shutting down“ CTF the hijacking of talkchess was somehow hidden because it eliminated chris w., ed and me.
But we are still alive kicking :-)
Its now 2023 and this is amazing 26 years after we founded Talkchess.
