New version of Rebel.bin Empty
PostSubject: New version of Rebel.bin   New version of Rebel.bin EmptySat Jun 10, 2023 6:51 am

Hi all,

I created a new version of Rebel.bin, the polyglot book I made for Rebel 15. It contains a lot of improvements, based on over 2000 test games vs Stockfish 15.1. You can download it over here:

You're welcome, Ed. A sample line from the new book:

[Event "?"]
[Site "?"]
[Date "????.??.??"]
[Round "?"]
[White "Rebel 16.2"]
[Black "Stockfish 15.1"]
[Result "*"]
[PlyCount "47"]

1. e4 c5 2. Nf3 e6 3. d4 cxd4 4. Nxd4 Nc6 5. Nc3 Qc7 6. Be3 a6 7. g4 b5 8. Nxc6 Qxc6 9. Qd2 b4 10. Ne2 Qxe4 11. Rg1 Qc6 12. Bg2 d5 13. O-O-O Bb7 14. f4 Nf6 15. f5 exf5 16. Nd4 Qa4 17. Kb1 Ne4 18. Qe1 fxg4 19. Rf1 Rc8 20. Qh4 Qd7 21. Bxe4 dxe4 22. Nf5 Qc7 23. Ka1 h6 24. Rd6 *

7. g4!? is a very modern line, sacrificing a pawn for the initiative. Stockfish, without book moves, follows the theory correctly up to 15... exf5, but then sometimes plays the weak move 16... Qa4? (Correct is 16... Qc4!). The refutation is very deep, but comes straight out of the Rebel.bin book, with 23. Ka1! and 24. Rd6!! being key moves. Black is lost!
