Germany now 3561 in hospitals in IC (intensive care units).

Numbers of new infections not decreasing.
Seems we will to to do a lockdown, i guess next week. Otherwise the situation in the hospitals could be to dangerous.

We will never know if his involvement in the recent protests contributed to the breaking down of his door, the fact remains that textile masks and social distancing do more harm than good, plenty of science to back this up.

Today 410 people died in Germany because of covid 19.

Germany 21695 new infections. all our actions do not lead to reduce the new infections. Seems only a lockdown can help. A mild shutdown is not helping anyway.

Covid 19 is very similar to Spanish flu.

There the first wave was small. And the second wave was the real killer.

Same situation here, the partly lockdown caused the 10,000 peak we had about 3 weeks ago to go down to 5000-6000 a day within a week but for 2 weeks now it won't go down further. Meanwhile while time passes we are soon in December with 3 (!) major family meetings, Sinterklaas (december 5), Christmas and New Year. Yesterday (Black Friday) the major of Rotterdam had to urge people to go or stay home because the Dutch massively went shopping, many without mask.

Instead of solving problem within a few weeks it takes many months. They even talk about social costs. What about keeping people hostage for great many months like they do now.

Why isn't this in the Politics thread? Especially with the comments made by mclane and Anton referencing the current US president and the media which has largely been politicised in the US in the last four years.

Yes Covid-19 measures is a political game mostly ignoring science.

If the CODID-19 situation weren't turned into a political game and people simply put politics aside from the very beginning, the world would be doing much better now.

I can remember back in very early February before the epidemic turned pandemic, most of the English-speaking world was writing hit pieces about a "Chinese virus" and "draconian lockdowns" - and I think after writing such things, one feels the need to prove how "free" they are once put in the same position.

The thing with these viruses is that once the horse is out of the barn - a horse which multiplies exponentially - it is very hard to push back into the barn.

This is why complete (not this "partial") lockdown is vital in the very early days.

We did this in late Jan/early Feb and suffered a few rough months and now things are fine here.

Now we haven't even needed masks since around June.

Without the political element, countries would have simply modeled what China (and South Korea, if the super extreme way isn't to your taste) did and would be doing pretty well now.

Protesting during a pandemic, especially protesting against the virus fighting lockdown, is irresponble and destructive to society - and should be subject to some sort of "times of emergency" prosecution (obviously this needs to be implemented carefully in a liberal democratic nation to give people the illusion of freedom).

Wilfully risking the lives of others is a form of assault.

The American president sacrificed his own people for the sake of getting popular COVID 19 statements.
Hopefully many Americans do law suit trump in the moment he has no political immunity anymore because they left family relatives due to trumps „management“ of the pandemic situation.

If France is representative, then once this second wave starts to decline, it can go down quite quickly - link.

I still think that by the time we all get offered a vaccine, it will be gone anyway.

Saw that movie back in the late eighties. It was scary ahead of its time (except for aliens) theory that was in the movie, the rest should be good enough...
