This time the enemy is not the continent
The enemy is in your own country. The virus variation and the idiots who fight for their right to be extincted are on the island NOW.
Instead isolating at home these dinosaurs create events of mass spreading.
I wonder if this virus is an intelligent test executed by god to find out which part of his own creation he should wipe out now since the last flood was not successful enough to differentiate.

As I mentioned in a recent post, we have one of the highest seropositivity rates in the world (95.3%). In the current situation, that's the place to be! If new variants continue to appear, we won't have to overreact to them like other countries will.

I welcome this conversion to belief in god!
Yes - the Bible is an outdated document - but I have come to believe that collectively we're better off having moral codes than not. I haven't documented the evidence for this, but my opinion is that if somebody did this (and by "did this", I really mean "did this well"), then I think that the evidence in favour of this notion would be ABSOLUTELY OVERWHELMING!
To quickly answer the exact question you're asking yourself, though, the answer is no: at time of writing, the Omicron variant is not killing us in large numbers - link.

At time of writing, it is the Germans who are dying - not the Brits!
It seems likely to me that lower rates of seropositivity are a big part of the reason for this. At this exact moment, seropositivity is the place to be.

We have 108.000 dead people due to Corona
4649 people with covid keep the intensive care units busy in our hospitals. And this in a situation where we have sinking numbers.
It could be very difficult when the numbers rise now again with omicron.

I hope I'm not being prematurely optimistic, but taking today's British Covid infection number with the 3 days before that, it looks as if our infection rate might just be peaking.
The moment we're confident that Omicron is not going to cause a large increase in serious illness, we should release the lockdown: for those who won't take the vaccine, exposure to the actual virus can be their way of generating an immune response to it. Then we can relax and enjoy other countries having panics and lockdowns all the time!

The 4649 covid patients in coma in intensive care units are 86% of Germanys capacities. If we get another tsunami wave upon this sinking delta rate, the omicron wave, we are doomed. Lets hope we can reduce the covid patients number to a level that is small before omicron gets serious, or any other variation or mutation.

In UK 60% is Omikron. In London 70%. Omnikron giving Bronchitus. Less Pneumonia. If I am right.

This is NOWHERE NEAR fear inducing enough: you need to find some horrendous medical images, print them on large sheets of paper, and show them to everyone you find outdoors!
I hope I'm not being prematurely optimistic, but taking today's British Covid infection number with the 3 days before that, it looks as if our infection rate might just be peaking.
Picture still unclear: today's number of infections is higher than yesterdays, but lower than Friday's peak.
Just off the top of my head, I think the two most important things to consider in deciding whether we're at a peak:
1. the daily numbers are somewhat noisy
2. there's a complication in that Delta is probably declining as Omicron is rising

The evidence suggests to me that Omicron could be the silver bullet that finally ends the pandemic. The following two statements are more or less facts:
1. Getting infected by covid confers almost as much protection against serious illness from a future infection as a vaccination does
2. People who've been vaccinated, and then get a "breakthrough infection", get very strong immunity from future infections (link)
Here are three relevant facts about Omicron:
1. It's able to break through vaccination protection
2. Because it breeds in the throat at an unbelievably fast rate, it spreads like wildfire: the "R rate" is FAR above any previous variant
3. Because it's so weak at breeding in the lungs, it's causing very little serious illness
Obviously it's too soon to say for sure, but it's looking to me as though Omicron might just be the free global vaccination that will be the killer blow to Covid that we've been praying for!

I'm guessing that this reduction is mostly the Delta variant.
IMO Omicron is so transmissible that a lockdown won't stop it (though it will slow it down). It seems to me that what the Netherlands is REALLY doing by implementing a lockdown is buying time.
Deaths are still not rising in Britain: it's too soon to be super-confident though, because deaths are a lagging indicator. The small number of British doctors who have spoken in public are saying that at this time, the health service is not being overwhelmed.

I will try to get a booster shot this year, not easy when you work to get the time to do so.

Probably not the same in Germany, but my personal experience was:
* the first two jabs I got almost as soon as I walked into the building
* I had to queue for over half an hour for the booster jab
Today's British infection number is slightly down on yesterday. If this continues, the infection curve will soon begin to visibly flatten.
Hospitalisations in Britain are still flat - link. As I've said before, our high seropositivity is likely to be a contributory factor to this anomaly. Also, Omicron probably causes less serious illness than Delta.

German infection rate in very clear decline - link.
Today's UK infection number is an all-time high - 106,122. The previous peak was the 17th December with 92,500.
The problem for us might be too many heath care staff self isolating at the same time. Too many people getting seriously is looking a bit unlikely now.
