If top human players were 'forced' to play more Swisses with weaker opposition, their repertoires would include riskier lines in order to succeed in such a format.
The current FIDE system usually does not encourage this, although there was one big Swiss in the last Candidates qualification cycle. I'd like to see more such tournaments.
On the other hand, watching Magnus Carlsen against a 2400 player is like watching Canadians club baby seals. No thanks.

Actually, those (grand)master vs amateur encounters can be most instructive - there's not enough of them!

A 2400 can easily be a GM.

Depends on the GM, as the title has been devalued somewhat. A 2400 can reach 2500 'easily' but not 2700...

I agree.
I created a database once with only 2700+ vs 2400+ with wins in less than 30 moves and the games are amazing to look at.
2400 IMs, who look so polished to us mere mortals - and always seem to overpower us easily in tournament games - crumbling with almost no resistance.
I used to wonder: What does this guy know that an IM doesn't?!?!
(P.S Nobody needs to answer that last question. I know the answer now. )
