We had this problem around the time of the peak (and for around a week afterwards IIRC). Then restrictions were reduced: self-isolation reduced to 5 days, negative self-test good enough to return to work etc. Also, wearing of masks in shops is now optional, and the number of people wearing them is steadily declining.

I know I called it wrongly before, but again, both the Dutch and German charts look as though they **might** be peaking.

By changing the way infection numbers are counted, British charts have been made wholly useless for 7 days. Mad

For a short while, I'll be looking at this chart daily - link. It uses the old way of counting, and it gets updated around 10 hours sooner than the Google chart. Looking at it, our infection decline is looking like South Africa (with them being a few weeks ahead of us). Roughly speaking, the main trend is strongly downwards, with some level and upward blips on the way down.

Israel is an interesting case: they were well ahead of the rest of us in getting vaccinated, but in sharp contrast to Britain, their death rate has shot up during the Omicron wave:

Covid 19 Pandemie - Page 26 Israel12

This article gives some thoughtful reasons - link. A couple of differences between Britain and Israel from myself:

1. Britain has had more natural infection over the preceding Covid-19 waves

2. Britain's 3rd vaccinations (the "booster" vaccination) was closer to the Omicron outbreak than Israel's was - and we know that Covid immunity fades over time (Israel has started a 4th booster vaccination, which is known to boost immunity hugely, but it came too late)

Booster only works for three months. Maybe the more infected the sooner it will be over.

I found the link at the bottom of this post that is clearly wrong because if I add Gibraltar then I find that 121% of the population is fully vaccinated against Covid19 that is clearly wrong.

It cannot be more than 100%

Is there a reliable source of information about share of people vaccinated against COVID-19?

https://ourworldindata.org/covid-vaccinations

Edit:I can add that I am surprised by the low number of people who are dead from COVID-19 in the countries that are low in the list:
Ethoipia,Nigeria,Egypt

The worst case is Egypt and even they have clearly less victims relative to the population when I compare to the average of the world so
I wonder if vaccination really help against the corona(maybe it help people who get vaccination but in some way cause the corona to be more dangerous for people who did not get vaccination).

Maybe it is just a big lie that vaccines are helping against Covid?
In the beginning of the rollout of the vaccines someone told me that peoples where al dying in poor countries because they don't have vaccines against Covid.
If you look at the numbers the opposite is true.

I refer you to the answer I gave to Uri's post - link.

A quick update to that response: in Britain, someone who tests positive within 4 weeks of dying is counted as a Covid-19 death, whether or not Covid-19 was the cause of death. Mad

I understand it is hard to know the the truth about these things. I think nobody knows it they just pretend like they do.

We do know that in countries in which most people have been vaccinated, those who haven't been vaccinated are more likely to suffer severe illness (hospitalisation or death).

There isn't time to fact check every piece of information.

I did once have a job in which I had to read literally thousands of reports. At that time, I developed a the ability to look at a report and to know in about 30 seconds whether it was good quality or not. Hopefully, some of that ability has stayed with me.

Last week 824000 positive. So that would be 1:22 positive in the Netherlands. They say they are expecting peak soon.

There's a big blip on the Netherlands chart (link): has your country done the same as Britain and changed the way reinfections are counted?

It's too soon to be confident, but looking at the 30 day infection chart for China, I'm seeing something I haven't seen before: it seems as though the chart is starting to move upwards. Has Omicron landed???

394.759 today. But they have problems with counting. Mean is 118000 per day (last week).

The material is a little complicated, and I've only read it quickly, but here's what I think it's saying: the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines cause the body to create poisonous proteins that then circulate in the bloodstream for up to two months.

Looks as though it was just a blip. However - Hong Kong now has a full scale Omicron infection - link. That article reveals that China is running a "zero Covid" policy. In Hong Kong, though, they've now accepted, as so many countries have before, that keeping Omicron out is just not realistic. The article explains, though, that because zero Covid is the plan, vaccination levels are much lower than other countries - and this is a problem for them.
